Crawshaw DUX a Quacking Success!

Eight Year 9 students have this week been shortlisted as our potential candidates for the new 'Dux Award'. They are: Ariane Briggs, Joe Bray-Williams, Finn Haunch, Kristie Hutton, Silvija Miceviciute, Laurence Parkin, Mollie Stott and Hannah Swapp. Well done to all of them!

This national scheme is designed to encourage students with the sort of high level academic potential and achievement that Crawshaw wishes to foster and develop, regardless of background, to look seriously at progressing to one of the country's leading universities, particularly to one of those that form part of the prestigious Russell Group, a confederation that links the UK's 20 most internationally respected universities.

The successful candidate will be awarded the rare opportunity to visit one of these institutions of excellence (with their travel and expenses paid!) get a taste of the sort of challenge and aspirations that hubs of learning like these can inspire.

So big congratulations to all those on the shortlist, from the head teacher, senior team, achievement team and the staff as a whole: they should feel hugely proud of this. (Should you wish to find out more about the award than the outline provided here, you can also go to www.education.gov.uk/dux-university-visits.)

The winner (that is, our ‘Dux’, or leader, for academic excellence in Yr.9!) will be selected by April 16th and their name submitted then to the official government website as our representative to visit that top-class Russell Group university.
