Interview Techniques with Lloyds Banking Group

Last half term, 24 students from the year 12 ICT (Cambridge Technicals) cohort were treated to an 'Apprentice' style interview as part of their skills for employability coursework experience. Last year the Business Studies and ICT department forged a link with the Lloyds Banking Group branch based at Dawson's Corner in Pudsey, collaborating to create realistic job interview situations. On October 25th, 6 oLloyds Banking Group managers visited the school to carry out a second series of job interviews, for the role of 'Support Analyst'.  Prior to this event each student had had to apply for the job, filling an application form and preparing for the interview as if it were for a real job.

Each student who took part said afterwards that they had thoroughly enjoyed the experience, as it had been realistic; they were also quite surprised at how fun the interviews were - not as scary as expected! Each student took away a video clip of their interview to use to further review their interview styles, and barriers to communication. This should really give their coursework a boost, and of course give them a valuable insight in to what their futures may have in store for them.

One of the lead professionals from Lloyds Banking Group, Colleague IT Service Desk Training Manager, Rushpal Lali said "I know that my colleagues and I found it a very rewarding day and we hope that the students found the feedback we left useful for future job interviews."

A huge thanks to all the staff involved both at Crawshaw and at Lloyds Banking Group for their efforts in helping to make this event happen so successfully, giving the students such valuable learning experience. Also a big thanks to the students who participated with such professionalism. Well done!
