Performing Arts Students in 'Two' Performances

The last week has seen our Year 10 and 11 BTec Performing Arts students perfom two of their assessed pieces. The school opened its doors for the performance on Thursday 26th September to showcase the Year 11 students' performance of 'Two' a comedy play by Jim Cartwright and then Year 10 performed Willy Russell's 'Blood Brothers.'

'Two' takes place in a pub which is set in North England owned by a bickering husband and wife. Throughout the play the audience sees a range of different characters which change the pacing of the play to a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows, with love and relationships running as a continuous theme throughout the evening.  "It’s hilariously funny, savagely sad, wistful, surprising and magical" said Mrs Kay, Head of Drama.

'Blood Brothers' is a hit west end musical by Willy Russell. The story is of a contemporary nature versus nurture plot, revolving around fraternal twins who were separated at birth. The twins' different backgrounds take them to opposite ends of the social spectrum, one becoming a councillor and the other unemployed and in prison. They both fall in love with the same girl, causing a tear in their friendship and leading to the tragic deaths of both brothers.

These events is the first of several assessed performances throughout the year which are open to parents, students and the community to attend free of charge.  BTEC Performances / Showcase Events are listed on the calendar, although the exact details of the performances are yet to be decided.  Parents can read about up coming events in our school e-Bulletin.  If you have any questions, please contact Aimee Watson, Performing Arts Technician for more details.
