The Jury's Verdict is… “Success!"

Friday 22 March saw the latest event organised through the Make the Grade initiative to the benefit of yet more Crawshaw students.  A group of Year 10 students attended the old courtroom at Pudsey Town Hall to take part in a mock trial, giving them a taste of the legal profession in practice.  The event, organised by Pudsey Legal and Make the Grade in conjunction with the school, was preceded by a briefing session at the school weeks in advance.  The students each then had to prepare their part in a scripted theft case to be played out in an actual courtroom.  The case was heard by Councillor Mick Coulson, who played the role of judge superbly well.  Also in attendance was Stuart Andrew MP, who came along to show his support for this fantastic initiative.

A lot of credit must go to the students for doing such a great job preparing for and acting out the trial.  Many felt they had benefited a great deal from the experience and commented how much they had enjoyed it.  Thanks also Mr Cox, who acted as the staff link and prepared the students so well.  Finally, a big thank you must go to Pudsey Legal and the team at Make the Grade for making it all possible.  The event was picked up in the media last week by the Telegraph & Argus and a full story followed in the Yorkshire Evening Post over the weekend (click on the links to read the media coverage.)

We will continue to bring you news about Make the Grade events via the website, Twitter and our weekly e-Bulletin.
