Year 10 Business Students Visit Zenith

On Monday 18th March 2013 a group of Year 10 Business Students visited our Make The Grade partner Zenith Intelligent Vehicle Solutions.  Accompanied by Miss Pearson and Mr Davies, the group spent Periods 2 to 5 at the Calverley based company headquarters, where they were put through their paces with a range of activities coordinated by the Zenith Team.

"It was an enjoyable experience and I would like to thank the staff for their assistance and making us all feel welcome and appreciated."

Interview practice in full swing!

Mirroring the format of the recent Post 16 Interview Practice Event, the visit involved the students gaining interview practice and feedback with experienced managers of the business.  This was complimented by a number of group activities to learn about and understand the key elements of preparing for the world of work and looking at a range of vehicles (such as electric and hybrid cars) as well as having a ride in these under the supervision of a teacher, driven by an experienced Zenith employee.

"Getting interviewed was a whole new experience for me as it was the first one I’ve ever had. The feedback I got helped a lot so I know how to improve my skills for the future in the working world."

Test driving a zero emission car!

Miss Pearson, teacher of Business Studies said "The students worked exceptionally hard and demonstrated great enthusiasm when on the trip and did the school proud." She added "Zenith provided an excellent experience for the students and it was fantastic to see so many of their staff involved and contributing to what was an enjoyable, fun and challenging trip."

"I learnt from this experience how to go about being confident speaking to new people and how to have a successful interview."

Crawshaw is continuing to build links with business partners from various sectors through the Make The Grade programme.  This has seen a range of activities put on for groups of students aimed at preparation for working life.  We will continue to report on Make The Grade on our news pages, in our weekly e-Bulletin and on Twitter (@CrawshawSchool) as they happen.
