Red Kite Learning Trust

Learning at Crawshaw Academy

Science

Curriculum Intent

A high-quality science education provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Science has changed our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity. All students will be taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science. Students will be encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena.

Science aims to develop scientific literacy and increase science capital so that students can appreciate the impact of science and technology on society and their own lives, allowing them to make informed personal decisions about things that involve science. These essential skills will support our students in the future in a diverse range of careers that are crucial for economic, environmental and social development.
