Working Together for Good Behaviour
We are a community united by a single, unwavering goal: to be a place where every student not only learns but truly thrives. Our commitment is built on the three pillars that define who we are: Respect, Determination, and Integrity.
RESPECT: Building a Safe, Orderly Foundation
Our environment must be a safe, orderly, and positive space for every member of our Academy in order for them to flourish and reach their potential.
- Respect for the Learning Environment is the key to our success. It creates the conditions for effective teaching and effective learning. Disruptive behaviour is a direct barrier to this.
- Respect for Self and Others is the start of positive behaviour. When intervention is needed, it is effective and supportive, maintaining a positive culture for all.
DETERMINATION: Fuelling Engagement and Progress
Good behaviour is more than just following rules; it is about the desire and enthusiasm to aim higher. It is the active expression of your determination to succeed.
- Determination is seen in your Engagement in Learning—in how you take active ownership of your progress.
- We start from the view that all students should be rewarded for showing us this desire and for demonstrating hard work and motivation. Our staff will actively seek out opportunities to celebrate this drive!
️ INTEGRITY: Upholding Fairness and Responsibility
To protect the learning environment for every student, we must operate with complete honesty and fairness.
- Integrity means taking responsibility for your actions and your learning. It means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.
- It provides the basis for a clear and consistent set of consequences for unacceptable behaviour. This clarity ensures good order and maintains a high-trust environment where success is the expectation for all.
By living these values—Respect, Determination, and Integrity—our Academy becomes the place for every single student to learn, grow, and achieve their maximum potential.
We hold an emphasis on rewarding positive learning behaviours as they are key to creating a culture of success. We refuse to let exceptional effort go unnoticed, and it is vital that students, feel valued and appreciated. A consistent approach to the use of praise and rewards is crucially important and has more impact on behaviour than the application of sanctions.
Rewards and Recognition are centralised across the Academy:
These include:
Verbal praise
Classcharts reward points
Postcards/certificates
Display of student’s work
Positive praise home - letters/emails/texts/phone calls home
Announcements in assembly/mention in parent briefing
Sharing of success on social media
And everyone’s favourite – Jump the Queue and Free Breakfast passes!
