Learning at Crawshaw Academy
PSHE is a planned programme of learning that equips students with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive both in school and beyond.
The curriculum is organised around six key themes:

Our PSHE curriculum follows a spiral approach, meaning key themes are revisited throughout Years 7–11 with increasing depth. The programme is regularly reviewed to reflect safeguarding priorities, local issues and student voice.
Learning Journeys
Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is a statutory part of the PSHE curriculum and is delivered in line with Department for Education guidance.
RSE supports students to develop healthy, respectful relationships and provides age-appropriate knowledge about physical health, emotional wellbeing and sexual health.
Students learn about:
Biological aspects of RSE are taught through the Science curriculum, while wider relationship and wellbeing topics are delivered through PSHE.

Parents have the right to request that their child is withdrawn from the non-statutory elements of sex education within RSE up until three terms before their child turns 16.
Requests should be made in writing to Dawn Nicholson, Assistant Headteacher. Alternative learning will be provided where appropriate.
