Students at Crawshaw Academy are celebrating their GCSE results with this year’s outcomes continuing the academic improvements seen at the school in recent years.
More than half of Year 11 students achieved a grade 5 or above in both maths and English with grade 5 considered a strong pass. At 50.7% this represents a significant increase compared to 45.4% in 2024.
The school has also seen a rise in the number of students achieving higher grades with over 15% achieving grade 7 or above in both English and maths. Almost a quarter of all GCSE grades achieved were a grade 7 or above.
Early analysis of the 2026 national results also shows Crawshaw students performing strongly against national figures. 71.9% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in English, compared with 59.5% nationally, while 72.4% achieved a grade 4 or above in mathematics, compared with 57.2% nationally.
As part of Red Kite Learning Trust, Crawshaw benefits from working alongside colleagues in schools across Leeds and Harrogate sharing effective practice and maintaining a strong focus on improving outcomes for students.
Iain Addison, Headteacher at Crawshaw Academy, said:
““We are incredibly proud of our students and the results they have achieved this year. These outcomes reflect their hard work, determination and resilience, together with the unwavering support of our staff and families. It is particularly pleasing to see our results continue to improve year on year, demonstrating the strength of our curriculum, the quality of teaching, and the ambition we have for every young person.”
Alongside academic achievement, Crawshaw places strong emphasis on wider personal development, supporting students to build confidence, develop their aspirations and understand the opportunities available to them beyond school.
Students leaving Crawshaw are now progressing onto a wide range of destinations including Pudsey Sixth Form College, other sixth forms and specialist colleges, as well as apprenticeship routes.
